( A brief note arrives by runner. Something about the ink below the name looks curiously uniform, as if it were perfectly reproduced rather than handwritten. )
L'DRAGON
You will forgive my presumption in contacting you though we have not been introduced - I am likewise from beyond the rifts, and a practitioner of foreign magics. I have had some success in adapting to Thedas and wished to make myself available to your acquaintance if that experience might prove useful, and also I am greatly interested in the matter of comparative magic as it applies to this world and, indeed, others. It is unfortunately far more rare in my own homelands to have the opportunity to share knowledge, and so I can scarcely overlook it here.
I do not make myself difficult to find if you would be amenable to better acquaintance.
[The Dragon instructs the runner to wait a moment with a bidding of his hand as he sets his work aside and hastily pours over the note. A mild frown blooms on his face, his brow knitted. He reaches for a quill and the nearest blank sheet of paper he can find, torn from a notebook. He has no formal stationery and no time to find anything fancier, so this will do.
The runner shall return to Madame DE CEDOUX with the following tight, firmly-scrawled message:]
Madame DE CEDOUX,
You can find me in the Gallows library, the alchemy labs, or the Darktown Clinic. I am too busy to stray further elsewhere for the time being. The subject of magic and comparative applications are of utmost importance to proper form and function in Thedas, and an opportunity to discuss this in greater detail is welcome. I strongly suggest seeking me at the Clinic, since it is an optimal setting for discussion and practice without bothersome interruption.
The Dragon SARKAN
[And that is that; he folds the letter in two and sends the runner back where he came from. It might be interesting to note that his signature, Sarkan, appears to be peculiarly bold and smoked-out around the edges, and a light touch to the letters would feel perhaps slightly warm.]
[ he calls at an hour fairly soon after the Gallows mess would have closed for the evening. his tone is polite, perfunctory. ]
This is not a social call, but rather one under the purview of Research. Would you mind describing, as best you are able, whatever you were doing shortly before you arrived in Thedas?
[ pause, shuffling of paper. ]
I am seeking to gather information about Rifters. As the Inquisition has stopped conducting formal interviews upon arrival, we do not have much documentation on the phenomenon for those of us who have arrived more recently. You are not obligated to answer, and are quite free to refuse.
